While adult devotionals may be a bit too heavy for a young child, there are many kid-friendly devotional books that are written in entertaining ways. Finding books that incorporate your children's interests and God's word helps them focus and understand at the same time. One of my sons' favorite devotional books is Five-Minute Devotions for Children: Celebrating God's World as a Family.
There are a few things that the boys really enjoy about this book. It's filled with fun illustrations of the different animals that are the stars of each story. They also enjoy hearing about nature and learning how the stories relate to them and what God wants them to know. But most of all, they love sitting down as a family, reading the stories and answering the questions together.
Honestly, my wife and I love this book as much as our children do. It's one of our favorites and fits nicely into our kids' bed time routine. We let them take turns picking the story for the night—my youngest always picks the bats—and then we cuddle in and enjoy the time together. My kids learn about God's love and we all get that special time together every night.
